how my relationship almost ended becuase of tomatoes

Offices are closed for the day at 4pm walking with Emeka on a Friday evening, 

 I picked up my phone to call my girlfriend Kemi tomorrow is her birthday Saturday  as her boyfriend I called her wishing her all my love and so on then I told her I was sending her rose flower because I would be at work, kemi my girlfriend responded with a big NO,NO,NO over the phone like we had issues, it was like as if i had pressed the button of anger in kemi ,she said to me don't you know the situation of things in this church, why will you send me flowers, do i look like flowers mean anything to me, in my bid to calm her down over the phone.

I replied to her kemi, kemi ,my dear relax what do you want for your birthday, then I felt that easy in her like a clam in an ocean, my heart started run fast because i don't know what she wanted and if i could afford it in this economy of Nigeria where i earn #25,000 every month 

Guess what she wanted me to buy her  "tomatoes" when said this i paused and said to myself could this be real and i replied out of surprise laughing, how much is a basket of tomatoes and she said  #20,000 at that moment i stopped laughing because it was no longer getting funny, I had to hang up on her because at this level  i knew if i didn't comply  my relationship was at the verge of collapse ,because of tomatoes , I told Emeka about it and he said his mum brought 5 pieces of tomatoes for a thousand naira he said this like this was nothing much to him. but right there in my heart it means life and death, i knew i heard to make a decision very fast between  4pm -12pm, when got home i started to check online stores to find out the prices of tomatoes ,guys it wasn't funny at all, i said to myself how can i buy a basket of tomatoes for #20,000 to be used for a birthday party, how much  will i buy drinks in the midst of my confusion my junior brother walks in seeing me confused.  Bro Femi he said; what is happening to you at this hour, he then dashes his hand to me with a bottle of Pepsi to cool off and I narrated the whole story to him, yinka laughed at me so hard that it began to get the attention of our mum, mum who was moving radically in other to get a bit of our discussion, when  Yinka finally got control of his-self ,he told me it was as simple as 1,2,3 . of course I always knew that yinka was the lady's guy,

so he said to me  tell her, you can't afford it but you can afford half of it, not a bad advice but inside of me my ego would not let me say that to kemi; it was like I  offended her by saying so to her, that could not meet up her needs part time, yinka left me and went to our mom to reveal all we discussed and guess what NEXT WATCH OUT ..............
